Introducing Play and Filial Therapy
For Children, Parents, and Guardians
What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy helps children address and resolve their problems through the natural medium of play. It builds on the natural way that children learn about themselves and their relationships in the world. Play therapy also provides a safe psychological distance from a children's problems and allows expression of thoughts and feelings appropriate to their development. Through play therapy, children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, modify behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and learn a variety of ways of relating to others.
What is Filial Therapy?
Filial Therapy is a unique approach that trains parents to be therapeutic agents with their children. In filial therapy, parents can learn how to create a nonjudgmental, understanding, and accepting, environment that enhances the parent-child relationship, facilitating personal growth and change for both the child and parent.
