After migrating to Texas from Atlanta, Georgia, Jennifer Landon McGarry started her counseling career wrestling troubled teenagers into line in a wilderness program outside Dallas. That’s right – 30 days living in a tent with hostile teens. Tell us she isn’t tough as a cowboy boot! A Licensed Professional Counselor and a new member of the LifeWorks senior clinican group (it only took us 10 years to snag her!), Jennifer has been in private practice since 1995. An expert in the rare disorder known as trichotillomania and also body-focused repetitive behavior (wha??), Jennifer is one of the few clinicians in the state who can effectively address these difficult diagnoses. She also works with women’s issues, men’s issues, anxiety and depression.
Jennifer's psychotherapy reflects her gentle personality. She focuses first and foremost on creating a safe, warm, and inviting atmosphere for her clients. Jen brings authenticity, humor, and a sense of teamwork to her sessions.
Basing her work on a cognitive behavioral approach, Jennifer believes in assisting the client to understand their core beliefs -- thereby taking the mystery out of emotions run amuck. In this way, clients are free to determine their own path, with a clear view of their deeply held and sacred intuition.
Jennifer has three wonderful daughters, a dog who can sort-of sit on command, AND she can do that standing-on-your-elbows thing in yoga. We’re not kidding.
