Harry Cates
A native of Forney, Tx, (Go Jackrabbits!) Harry Cates is proud of his four wonderful children (Hannah, Cecily, Avery and Eli). And if they aren't enough to keep him busy, he also cares for our new friend Tilda the Turtle and her fishy friends who live in the LifeWorks Dallas waiting room.
An LPC and LPC approved supervisor, Harry has been counseling for over 10 years, seeing clients whose ages range from 3 to 103 years old. He has a particular interest in elder care, working with seniors and their families who are dealing with the ever- present challenges of growing older. He also deals with blended family issues, depression, divorce recovery, and marital and parenting concerns. Other areas of expertise include anxiety, ADD, ADHD, addictions, and codependency. Harry also handles many of our tricky dual-diagnosis cases.
Harry is currently an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Dallas Baptist University, where he has been teaching since 1995. He also serves as The LifeWorks Group’s personnel manager, having somehow managed to master the art of herding cats – probably because, as the father of four, he’s had lots of practice.
On those rare occasions when he’s not working, Harry can be found batting around various sizes and shapes of sports gear - footballs, baseballs, basketballs, tennis balls -- whatever. He enjoys playing and watching his kids play as well. He also finds music to be a great pleasure and outlet in his life - not just for listening but also jamming with friends or making music of his own on his guitar.
